Bonnie Rose Allen
February 1, 1952 - February 1, 2019
I met Bonnie in April of 1967. I was a Jax Bch (FL) ocean lifeguard and Bonnie was a sweet little Georgia girl. Our. destinies crossed on the sands of the Atlantic. We went to some beach parties, and probably to the drive in movie at the Midway Theater on Beach Boulevard. She went back to Statesboro in May or June, and I lost track of her. I never forgot her, though. I always wondered what happened to her and how her life turned out. She was a very sweet, kind person, and fun to be with. She always looked nice and dressed well, though her family didn’t have a lot of money. Her Dad was in town on a job, and her Mother was there too. They were staying in a house on 1st Street South in Jax Beach, not far from the lifeguard station.
I returned to the Volunteer Lifesaving Corps in the winter of 1993, and was working at Pete’s Bar in Neptune Beach when in 1996, I received a phone call: “May I speak to David Stearns?” “This is David.” "My name is Chris Parker, and I’m your daughter.” She told me about her Mother, and I realized she was on the level. We met a month or so later at First Street Grill in Jacksonville Beach, and began getting acquainted. For a variety of reasons, Bonnie let her believe that her (Bonnie’s) first husband was her (Chris’) father. The only thing Bonnie knew about me was that I was a Jax Beach lifeguard in 1967.
