[Note to 2 recruits who were cut from the Summer 2012 class] I am sorry you got cut for not making your run time. It doesn't mean you cannot be a good lifeguard. There are other opportunities to guard besides the Corps. You have a choice to train really hard and prepare yourself for the winter class, or move on to other opportunities. I had 2 big disappointments in high school (actually more than 2). One was in the 8th grade out of 150 boys trying out for Babe Ruth baseball, I was one of 3 boys who didn't get picked for a team. It was devastating. The other was getting demoted to 2nd string JV football in the 11th grade. I really wanted to play baseball and football, but I couldn't make the teams. That was one of the reasons I went out for the corps, to prove to myself that I could make a team. I know you are disappointed, but take this as a learning experience and keep trying hard at whatever you put your mind to. Best wishes - David
